Frequently Asked Questions
General
I'm completely new to mindfulness. Can I still attend?
Absolutely. Whether you've never tried mindfulness before or already have an established practice, you'll be warmly welcomed. Everything is guided with curiosity rather than expectation, and you're invited to participate in a way that feels comfortable for you.
Do I need to be "good" at mindfulness?
Not at all. Mindfulness isn't about having a quiet mind or getting it "right." It's simply the practice of noticing your experience with kindness. Wandering thoughts, restlessness and distraction are all part of being human—and part of the practice itself.
What should I wear?
Comfort comes first. Wear clothing that allows you to relax and move freely. Shoes can usually be removed at the door if you'd like to settle in and make yourself at home.
What should I bring?
Just yourself. If anything specific is needed for a session or event, you'll be told beforehand. Journals, worksheets or resources are provided where appropriate.
Can I use my phone during the session?
Our sessions are an opportunity to step away from constant notifications and reconnect with ourselves. Phones can quickly pull our attention elsewhere, so we ask that they're switched to silent and kept away during the session. There'll always be time afterwards to take photos, connect with others or check in with the outside world.
Individual Support
I have experienced trauma and don't always feel safe around other people. Is this the right space for me?
Everything at In Rose Clinic is designed to support choice, gentleness and respect for your own pace. There is never any pressure to speak, share personal experiences, close your eyes or connect beyond what feels comfortable for you.
You're welcome to simply arrive, observe and take part in whatever way feels supportive. You know your needs best, and you're always encouraged to listen to them throughout the session.
If you're unsure whether a particular workshop, group or one-to-one session is the right fit, please get in touch before booking. I'm happy to answer any questions and help you decide what feels most appropriate for where you are right now.
Do I need to be experiencing a mental health difficulty?
No. Many people come because they're feeling overwhelmed, exhausted or disconnected, while others simply want space to reflect, grow or develop healthier ways of living. You don't have to be at crisis point to benefit.
Is this therapy?
No. In Rose Clinic provides holistic wellbeing, mindfulness and reflective support. While our work is informed by extensive NHS mental health experience, it is not a replacement for psychological therapy or medical treatment where these are needed.
Is everything confidential?
Yes. Your privacy is taken seriously and is respected, what you share remains confidential within professional and safeguarding responsibilities.
Team Wellbeing
We've never offered workplace wellbeing before. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Many organisations are just beginning their wellbeing journey. Programmes can be adapted for teams of all sizes and designed around your workplace, culture and objectives. Working with In Rose Clinic is an authentic way to influence culture from the inside.
Are sessions suitable for neurodivergent colleagues?
Yes. Creating psychologically safe and accessible spaces is central to our approach. Sessions are adapted to support different sensory, communication and learning needs so everyone feels able to participate. We are aware many people are undiagnosed so we take this into consideration from the start. You are welcome to communicate any specific needs before we get started.
Can workshops be delivered at our workplace?
Yes. Sessions can be delivered at your workplace, at an external venue or online, depending on what works best for your team.
Are sessions evidence-informed?
Yes. Every programme draws on current evidence from neuroscience, mindfulness research, somatic psychology, occupational health and over a decade of NHS mental health and job retention practice.
Can workshops be tailored to our organisation?
Absolutely. No two workplaces are the same. Together we'll explore your team's needs and create a programme that reflects your people, challenges and goals.
Community Sessions & Events
Do I have to share or speak in front of the group?
Never. You're always invited to participate at your own pace. Listening quietly is just as valuable as contributing, and there's never any pressure to speak. We support the introverts!
Will everyone be experienced?
Not at all. Community sessions often bring together people with a wide range of experiences. Some are attending for the first time, while others have been practising for years. Everyone begins exactly where they are.
Can I attend on my own?
Of course. Many people come by themselves, and you'll be welcomed into a friendly, supportive environment where connection happens naturally.
What if I become emotional?
It's completely okay. Creating space to slow down can sometimes bring emotions to the surface. You're encouraged to care for yourself in whatever way feels right, and support is available throughout the session if needed.
Will I have to sit cross-legged?
No. Mindfulness isn't about sitting in one particular position. Chairs, cushions and yoga mats are generally available so you can choose what feels most comfortable for your body. Yoga mats go down very well, allowing an extra depth of comfort and relaxation.
I still have a question.
I'd love to hear from you. If there's anything you'd like to ask before booking, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I'm always happy to help you decide whether a session, workshop or programme is the right fit for you.
